Billie Joe As Iconic
Guitarist
January
20, 2009 - Billie Joe was named as one of the 15
most iconic Les Paul players according to Gibson.com.
Others to make the list include Bob Marley, Zakk Wylde
and Jimmy Page.
Rumors have also been circulating around the internet
claiming that Green Day has finished recording their new album.
Neither the band nor Warner Records has confirmed this in any
way, but if you're interested in the details of the rumor more
information is available on Punk.bz.
Green
Day Nominated For 'Best Act
Ever'
Oct 2nd
2008 - Green Day has been nominated for "Best Act
Ever" for the MTV EMA's (UK). You can go vote for them
now, right here.
They're up against Britney Spears, U2, Christina Aguilera,
Tokio Hotel and Rick Astley. Pretty terrible group, so Green
Day needs to win.
The awards will be held in Liverpool on November 6th. They'll
air on MTV UK, I'm not aware of anywhere they'll be showing in
the US.
Many of you are not wondering if Green Day would be at the
awards show, and though we haven't heard anything from the band
themselves about this, I would assume they won't be. They
usually don't start attending shows till after the new album is
out, and it's not likely that we'll see the album out before
the end of the year.
But, now that we've got the band nominated lets give them
as many votes
as possible to win.

Billie Joe Armstrong Revives
Side Project in
L.A.
February 5th 2008 - Billie Joe
Armstrong can still DIY when he wants to. His side project
Pinhead Gunpowder hadn’t played a gig since 2001, but the
punk-pop quartet roared back to life this week in a quick tour
of SoCal club dates. On Monday, the Green Day singer-guitarist
was back to basics at the top of a three-band bill of melodic
loudfastrules at the Troubadour in West Hollywood. Ticket price
at the door: $7. With a beanie pulled over his bleached hair,
Armstrong strolled onto the stage like one of the roadies, a
Red Stripe in one hand and a guitar in the other. It was only
the band’s 19th show in seventeen years, but the room was
packed with fans who sang and crowd-surfed to “At Your
Funeral,” the new “Westside Highway” and a cover of Diana
Ross “Theme From Mahogany (Do You Know Where You’re Going
To),” shifting the lilting Seventies ballad into punk-rock
overdrive. Armstrong pulled fans up to watch from the stage,
but also told them to put away the digital cameras. “YouTube
can’t own everything,” he said. “There’s also something called
memories.”
